China lottery sales 6.6 percent up

Sales from official lottery products were up in the first nine months of the year.

China.- According to China’s ministry of Finance, from January to September lottery products reached a 6.6 percent increase and US$42 billion compared to the same months the year before.

Between January and September, lottery sales totaled US$22.3 billion, 1.6 percent higher than in 2015. Sports lottery sales saw a rise of 12.6 percent to US$20 billion, whilst combined sales for both of them marked a 10.3 percent jump, US$4.2 billion in September.

The Ministry confirmed that sales were up in almost every province of Mainland China that’s authorised to sell lottery products, including Gunagdong, Shaanxi, Hubel, Shandong, Hunan and Tibet. Back in August, lottery sales for August were US$4.7 billion, a 10.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2014. Sales were up in 26 of 31 jurisdictions where lottery tickets are allowed.
