Wynn Macau alert over fraudulent websites

The casino operator said that it has noticed an increase in fraudulent online gambling.

Macau.- Wynn Macau has revealed that there is an increase in the flow of fraudulent online gambling operation and investment websites claiming to be affiliated to the Wynn brand. The casino operator said that the websites appear to be professional.

“These fraudulent websites can appear highly professional and will often feature false statements on their websites in an attempt to pass off as a legitimate business or purport to be in association with, or be accredited by, a legitimate business or governmental authority. Such websites may also wrongfully display logos and trademarks owned by legitimate businesses or governmental authorities, or use deceptively similar logos and imagery, to appear legitimate,” said the company in an interim report on Monday

“We do not offer online gambling or investment accounts… The Group is not responsible for the contents of such websites,” Wynn Macau added, and said that efforts they take to acquire and protect their intellectual property rights against unauthorised use throughout the world, which may include retaining counsel and commencing litigation in various jurisdictions, may be costly and may not be successful in protecting and preserving the status and value of their intellectual property assets.
