Resorts World Manila ceases operations

The operator of the facility that suffered a serious incident last week said that it will suspend some gaming operations.

Philippines.- Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, the company behind the Resorts World Manila, which has suffered a serious shooting with multiple deaths last week, has announced that some operations will be suspended until after the probe.

“We are currently focused on ensuring that the victims, both injured individuals and the families of the deceased, are being assisted and well taken care of. Our company’s position is to voluntarily suspend operations in affected facilities [especially gaming areas] until all investigations are concluded by the [Philippine National Police] and [Bureau of Fire Protection] and safety is certified by appropriate authorities,” said the company in a statement released on Monday.

The company also confirmed that the second floor of the gaming area has been severely damaged due to some fires started by the problem gambler who killed 37 people. The operator also postponed its annual stockholder meeting that was scheduled for this Friday to a more appropriate date, as The Inquirer said.
