Casinos in South Dakota wait for sports betting

Deadwood city casinos hope for potential sports betting legalisation to help them boost gambling revenues.

US.- The sports betting industry has already proven its power to boost revenues in several states that launched operations right after PASPA got repealed and a South Dakota city hopes it’ll do the same in the state. Deadwood operators expect legislators to introduce a resolution to legalise the segment as they believe it will help their revenues.

Should South Dakotans vote to amend the state’s constitution and legalise the segment casinos in Deadwood will expand to include sports betting. That’s why the Deadwood Gaming Association announced its support for it: “The best thing for Deadwood is going to be the additional visitation, the additional hotel rooms, food and beverage sales. That’s where the real economic impact is going to happen with sport wagering,” says executive director Mike Rodman.

Mr. Rodman had helped revise the resolution legislators will vote on and said lawmakers hope the segment to bring an extra US$2 million in Deadwood. Furthermore, it would help increase tourism in the city as new sports lounges will certainly open to host dozens of gamblers.
