Problem gambling is discussed in the US
Dover Downs Casino hosts gambling addiction program to present preventing measures.
US.- Dover Downs Hotel and Casino will host the Service Members, Veterans and Gambling Addiction program on Thursday 15th March at the hotel’s conference center. The program, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Delaware Council on Gambling Problems, the National Council on Problem Gambling and Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
The event’s keynote speaker is Dr. Heather Chapman, a clinical psychologist and nationally-certified gambling counsellor. Chapman is the deputy director of the Veterans Addiction Recovery Center and the director of the Gambling Treatment Program at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center in Ohio.
Topics to be covered in the program include: Gambling Disorder Fundamentals; Personal Stories: Impact of Gambling; Delaware Resources For Gambling Addictions, and Law Enforcement’s Response. It is estimated that 56,000 active duty U.S. service members have a gambling problem. The average rate of disordered gambling is nearly two times higher among active duty service members than among the general U.S. population.
