Poker rooms grow in Pennsylvania
The state revealed that the operating poker rooms in Pennsylvania achieved a 4 percent year-over-year increase.
US.- Pennsylvania’s state gaming regulators revealed that poker rooms totaled a combined US$5.17 million from players last month, meaning that when compared to July 2016’s US$4.96 million, revenue grew 4.2 percent year-over-year.
The 10 casino with poker rooms paid US$725k in state takes, with an additional US$103k to host communities, Card Player revealed. Moreover, table games revenue during last month operations totaled US$77.85 million, a 3.8 percent increase year-over-year. Poker activities accounted 6.6 percent on table game win. As the news outlet informed the rooms that currently feature 225 tables raked US$407 million since the state began offering poker seven years ago, paying US$52.4 million in state taxes during that period.
Overall gaming revenue declined as slot machine win reported a two percent decline when compared to the same period last year to US$209 million. Total gaming revenue was US$286.9 million, a 0.5 percent decrease.
Pennsylvania is set to approve soon an expected gaming expansion that includes online gaming platforms, video gaming terminals and daily fantasy sports. The state’s Senate will begin its September session with debates about iGaming legislation. The Committee is receiving on September 19 new proposals to legislate the gaming industry. The latest novelty for Pennsylvania’s gaming expansion plans are the video gaming terminals (VGT), which will be addressed during September’s session.
