Pennsylvanian casinos struggle during H1
Despite positive statewide results, both the Mohegan Sun Pocono and the Mount Airy Casino Resort failed to keep up and saw revenue drops.
US.- Overall, casino revenue from both table games and slots saw improved figures during the first half of 2018 in Pennsylvania. However, two venues from the northeastern county of Monroe failed to keep up with the rest and posted negative numbers, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board revealed.
At the Mohegan Sun Pocono, table games revenue dropped 7.7 per cent to 19.2 million year-on-year, while slots revenue was down 1.6 per cent to US$102.1 million. “We manage through it appropriately and are always evaluating where improvements can be made,” president and CEO of Mohegan Sun Pocono Tony Carlucci said and explained there is always volatility in gaming revenue.
Meanwhile, the Mount Airy Casino Resort also saw a table games revenue drop of nearly 20 per cent to US$19.9 million, as slots revenue reached US$71 million after dropping 1.1 per cent year-on-year. However, the company is expected to recover from the first half of the year as it was granted an extension to submit plans for a mini-casino to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Statewide, table games revenue was up 1 per cent to US$447 million and slots revenue increased 1.27 per cent to US$1.2 billion.
