Pennsylvania revenue up statewide
The state gaming control board confirmed that casinos in the state experienced an increase.
US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that total revenue from table games in Pennsylvania increased 5.6 percent. While the 12 state casinos reached a record, Mohegan Sun Pocono and Mount Airy Casino Resort experienced a fall in table games revenue.
Table games at Mohegan Sun dropped 7 percent from US$49 million in 2015 to US$45 million last year, whilst Mount Airy Casino Resort experienced a 8.6 percent fall from US$46.6 million to US$42.6 million in 2016. According to Citizens Voice, Joe Weinert, a casino analyst, said that Sands Casino Resort in Betlehem is leading the revenue from table games. “Sands is putting a lot of money into that property and a lot of effort into their table games business so I suspect some of the decline at Mount Airy and Mohegan Sun Pocono benefits Sands. Sands is a large facility and it designed its marketing program to appeal to mid to upper-end table games players. They are succeeding in attracting them,” he added.
State wide revenue from slot machines and table games in 2016 totaled US$3.2 billion, the biggest number reached in 10 years, and the sixth straight year that it passes the US$3 billion mark.
