US.- A project to build a new casino in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania has been approved. Shippensburg Township supervisors have granted a conditional use permit to the company Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment.

The new venue will be named Parx Casino and will feature a 77,000sq ft property with a casino and a restaurant in half of a former Lowe’s store in the middle of the town. It will also have a convention centre.

The casino is to host 600 slots, a restaurant and sports bar and is expected to open in 2022.

Pennsylvania eases restrictions for casinos

Pennsylvania has recently begun loosening capacity restrictions for casinos and restaurants as of April.

As Covid-19 cases decrease in the state and vaccination advances, capacity restrictions for casinos, restaurants, gyms, entertainment facilities, theatres, and malls will be increased to 75 per cent occupancy.

Indoor dining capacity will be increased for restaurants that can comply with all public health safety guidelines, including cleaning and mitigation protocols.

Governor Tom Wolf said: “Pennsylvanians have stepped up and done their part of help curb the spread of Covid-19. Our case counts continue to go down, hospitalizations are declining, and the percent positivity rate gets lower every week – all very positive signs!”
