Pagcor suspends Resorts World Manila

The gaming regulatory agency confirmed on Saturday that the Resorts World Manila was suspended due to security reasons.

Philippines.- The Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) confirmed on Saturday that Resorts World Manila was suspended over security reasons after the attack on June 2 that killed 38 people.

The regulatory body released a statement that details that the suspension will remain in effect pending the investigation after finding out that there were serious security lapses during the fires and shooting. Last week, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that Resorts World Manila’s security failed to execute a containment plan during the attack. Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, head of the PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agency said during a press conference last week that there was a plan, but it wasn’t executed and that the facility lacked the required number of security guards.

“The suspension will remain until RWM rectifies its serious security lapses and deficiencies – which caused not only the loss of lives and damaged properties but also placed the Philippine gaming, tourism and hospitality industries in bad light,” said Pagcor in the statement, as reported by The Gulf Today. The entity also warned the casino that further sanctions would be imposed if the decision was violated.
