Online gaming in Italy sees record month for sports betting February
The Italian online gaming sector marked a new record in revenue from sports betting in February, earning €351.2m.
Italy.- February was the second-best month yet for the online gaming market in Italy, with revenue of €351.2m, just behind the record set in December 2020.
With retail betting shops still closed under Covid-19 controls, online sports betting enjoyed a record month with revenue of €185.5m, which accounted for more than half of Italy’s total online revenue.
Figures revealed by Ficom Leisure show a month-on-month increase in revenue across all online verticals of 4.6 per cent from January and a year-on-year increase of 94.8 per cent against February 2020 – the last month before land-based casinos and betting shops were closed due to the pandemic.
Online betting revenue was also up 29.4 per cent from January, which had also seen a strong performance.
