Italy: online gambling GGR hit €359m in December
The industry surpassed the record €258.9m in GGR set the previous month.
Italy. – Gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated online reached €359m in December.
Online sports betting raised €177.1m, an increase of 59.5 per cent month-on-month.
Online casino and slot games saw an increase of 24 per cent month-on-month to €153.8m. Online poker contributed €12.2m.
PokerStars generated the most revenue, accounting for 11.46 per cent of sales. Sisal came second place with 9.06 per cent of the online casino market, while Lottomatica held 7.93 per cent.
In the land-based sector in Italy, casinos, betting shops and gaming halls must remain closed until March 5 as operators lost their appeal against restrictions adopted to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
