Nine potential hosts in Japan
Nine cities will participate in a national hearing to reveal next casino’s host districts.
Japan.- The national government of Japan will visit Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Sendai, Sapporo, Nagoya, Toyama and Takamatsu in Kagawa Prefecture to discuss gaming policies and potential host cities. Japanese authorities will present current regulation projects and will explain the special conditions to become a new casino host district.
The governmental public hearings throughout the country will be focused on legal strategies to prevent problem gambling and money laundering through casino operations, according to the local newspaper, Japan Times. Furthermore, authorities will reveal basic recommendations for developing recently-approved gaming industry.
The official tour will begin next September 17-29 in order to meet with representatives of cities that are interested in achieving a gaming license. Meanwhile, legislators are planning to pass a comprehensive gaming law, which would finally allow to implement casino projects in the country.
Last week Japanese legislators debated on a proposal that would limit residents’ participation in local casinos. As the project was passed, the Prime Minister is expecting to receive the bill this week in order to set a final resolution. Casino development could only start once the government approves a comprehensive gaming regulation establishing the licensing and operating conditions. The proposal generated rejection among potential casino operators as it includes several conditions and limitations for the gaming industry.
