New York sports betting revenue up for March
State enjoys positive revenues in March despite the impact of Covid-19.
US.- Sports betting revenue was on the up in March in New York, despite the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak in the state.
According to figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission, sports betting revenue saw a month-on-month rise compared to the previous month’s loss.
Four commercial casinos totalled $99,514 (€91,342) last month, up from a loss of $179,593 in February — a record low for New York. The March figure was the second-lowest monthly total on record.
With much of sport around the world cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic at present and over the coming months, the sector looks sets for a tough time ahead.
Schenectady based Rivers Casino & Resort claimed the top spot in the market for March, generating $81,883 in sports betting revenue, compared to a loss of $38,802 in February.
The del Lago Resort and Casino, which runs a DraftKings-powered sportsbook, generated $53,861 in revenue, a sharp decrease from $98,247 the previous month.
