New regulatory entity in Sweden
The gaming industry will have a new regulatory organisation in the Swedish market.
Sweden.- Totally Gaming has shared an article revealing that the Swedish government’s organisation Speletiska Rådet (Sper) has been restructured to become the latest gaming regulatory entity. The national gaming unit has been renamed as Spelbranschens Riksorganisation, meaning Swedish National Gambling Association.
The former Speletiska Rådet used to control and carry out measures in regards to marketing and consumer protection at federal level. The governmental entity will now focus on the gaming industry as a trade association, as Totally Gaming reported. However, the traditional Sper has been dealing with the gaming sector since the beginning.
The Swedish National Gambling Association will maintain its abbreviation as Sper. The news outlet also interviewed the association’s CEO Jenny Nilzon, who stated: “During past last year, our members’ demand for Sper to work with a wider range issues has increased, and at the same time the reputation of the gaming industry has decreased.” And continued: “During past last year, our members’ demand for Sper to work with a wider range issues has increased, and at the same time the reputation of the gaming industry has decreased.”
Nilzon also highlighted Sper’s intentions to cooperate with gaming operators. “We need to work together to be able to prove to politicians that we are responsible, and to change the negative reputation and trend in which we are seeing less people play. This is the only way for the market to co-operate,” the CEO explained.
