New Jersey sees the decline in revenues from sports betting.

Sports betting revenues drop 58.4 per cent year on year to US$13.2million due to the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.

US.- The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has reported a 58.4 per cent year-on-year decrease in sports betting revenue in March.

Sports betting revenue totalled US$13.2million last month, down from US$31.7million in March 2019.

The numbers also marked a 22.4 per cent month on month decrease on the US$17.0million posted in February.

Players in the state wagered a total of US$181.9million on sports in March, a decline of 51.2 per cent from US$372.5million last year.

The main reason for the significant drop in revenue was the casino shut down and global sports blackout due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

That being said, the state’s online gaming market enjoyed a particularly strong month, with poker the standout performer.
