Nevada’s gaming win hits $1b for third straight month
Casinos in the biggest gambling state in the US hit a mark that was last achieved in 2008.
US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that casinos in the state collected more than US$1 billion in gaming win in March, which marked the third consecutive month that hit that number, something that had not happened since 2008.
While according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority visitation remained flat during March’s operations, with volume 0.9 per cent down to 3.75 million people, statewide win managed to increase 3.4 per cent to US$1 billion.
The Strip contributed with US$573.9 million, up 9.1 per cent from March 2017. Overall Clark County win was up 3.6 per cent to US$888.3 million. Downtown Las Vegas decreased its revenue by 14.2 per cent to US$54 million, while North Las Vegas and the Boulder Strip also reported a revenue fall.
Three quarters of the fiscal year in, statewide gaming win rose 2.4 per cent to US$8.88 billion, while the first quarter totals for gaming win shows that win is up 2.8 per cent statewide, 2.3 percent in Clark County, 3.3 percent for the Strip and down 3.8 percent downtown.
March 2018 was the 38th time that Nevada reported more than US$1 billion in monthly win, a number that was first hit in March 2015. Moreover, the results achieved during the first three months of 2018 were the first time that the state surpassed the US$1 billion mark since February-April 2008, Michael Lawton, senior research analyst for the Tax and License Division of the Control Board said. The all-time record shows a billion-dollar win for eight straight months from October 2006 to May 2007.
