Mississippi governor names lottery executives
The governor of the state is naming five executives that will oversee the creation of the Mississippi Lottery.
US.- Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant is set to name three businesspeople, a lobbyist and an educator to the board that will oversee the creation and operation of a local lottery. The nominees were announced on Friday, two months after local lawmakers voted in favour of the creation of the game of chance.
During a press statement, Bryant said that he was grateful that the five highly-qualified individuals agreed to take on the responsibility of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation Board of Directors by accepting the appointments. “This group has exceptional experience in diverse sectors of public and private business, and I know they will carry out the affairs of the board effectively.”
Senators will analyse and consider the confirmation of the nominees during the next legislative session that starts in January, but the executives can serve until then without confirmation.
