Major Las Vegas poker tournament postponed
DeepStack Championship Poker Series was set to start next week but has been postponed due to Coronavirus.
US.- The DeepStack Championship Poker Series set to take place in Las Vegas next week has been postponed due to the Coronavirus crisis.
The major poker event was set to start on May 4 at the Venetian Resort with a finish date of July 26.
But just like most major events in Nevada and around the globe it has been pushed back indefinitely while hotels and casinos in Nevada remain closed.
Venetian Tournament Director, Tommy LaRosa, tweeted: “The health and safety of our team members, our guests, and our community is a top priority.
“At this time The Venetian Resort remains closed and we look forward to a time in the near future when we announce our re-opening date.
“We can confirm that The DeepStack Championship Poker Series will not take place on its originally scheduled dates, May 4–July 26.
“However, as the current situation evolves, we will review new dates and announce them as soon as they are available.”
The DeepStack Championship is not the only big poker event missing from the calendar.
Last week, it was announced that the 51st World Series of Poker, which was also set to take place in Las Vegas, would be postponed due to Covid-19.
