Landing International chairman resumes work

After being missing since August 23, Landing International Development chairman Yang Zhihui resumed duties on Monday.

Hong Kong.- A huge controversy arose in Hong Kong after Landing International Development Ltd informed it was unable to contact its chairman and executive director, Yang Zhihui. However, the casino operator has reported that the official was assisting an investigation in China and has resumed duties on Monday.

“Mr Yang explained that he has been assisting the relevant department of the People’s Republic of China with its investigation during the period of his absence,” said the company on Monday in a filing to the Hong Kong bourse. Its shares had dropped more than 30% after the reports by Landing about being unable to contact him.

The company had been quite active before Mr Yang disappeared as it recently opened its foreigner-only casino on Jeju Island, the Jeju Shinhwa World resort. Furthermore, it is looking forward to developing another casino resort in Manila, Philippines, for which it still needs to resolve an issue regarding a land lease contract for the lot where the venue would be built.
