Kindred: first operator to offer self-exclusion software in US

Kindred’s Unibet will offer Gamban’s self-exclusion tool in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana.

US.- Kindred Group has become the first operator to offer self-exclusion software to US customers, after partnering with Gamban, the UK-based gambling block software supplier.

Using the Gamban tool, which has already seen use in Europe and Australia, players can prevent access to any online gambling site on individual devices.

Kindred‘s head of responsible gambling and research, Maris Catania, said: “It has always been our ambition to bring our European know-how and expertise in responsible gambling to the US and our long-standing successful partnership with Gamban perfectly aligns with this ambition, as well as our journey towards zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2023.

“We are proud to be the very first operator in the US to offer inter-state protection to our customers and we strongly believe this will be an important step for the industry.”

The tool will be offered on Kindred’s Unibet in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana. It could also reach Illinois and Iowa since the company has applied for licences in those states.

Gamban’s co-founder, Jack Symons, said: “We’re incredibly excited to partner with Unibet and offer our blocking software in the US – it’s a huge step forward for the industry.

“This highlights the evolution of the industry in recognizing how products like ours can protect their players and the sustainability of their companies, as well as the wider industry.”

Back in January, Kindred Group reported record growth for the fourth quarter of 2020 thanks to strong customer growth and a higher than usual sports betting margin.
