Japanese company creates IR Promotion Office
Construction company Takenaka Corporation has established its “Yumeshima MICE/IR Promotion Office” to push for an IR contract.
Japan.- As Japan outlines the final details before setting up the casino industry in the country, the private sector continues to make moves in order to push for a cut of the business. Osaka-based construction company Takenaka Corporation has established a “Yumeshima MICE/IR Promotion Office,” in order to position itself as the area is a top candidate to host a gaming venue.
The office began operating last Monday but the size of the team has yet to be revealed. However, the company’s announcement said it will be led by Masahisa Kanto and suggested that the team will be a temporary organisation, set to close by the end of fiscal year 2022.
Several other companies like Obayashi Corporation and Kajima Corporation have already made similar moves, as a local IR is expected to be developed to host the 2025 World Expo.
The Osakan government continues to push for an integrated resort (IR) to be developed and is looking to get the best out of the business opportunity the gambling expansion has created. Meanwhile, international casino operators continue to lobby in the prefecture and construction companies are moving forward to get ready to push for a deal when the licensing process begins.
