Iowa sports betting revenue up 55% in March
Total revenues hit $1.2million mostly from online after casinos and sportsbooks were forced to close due to Coronavirus.
US.- Iowa enjoyed a 55.1 per cent month on month increase in sports betting revenue in March, hitting US$1.2million despite casinos and sportsbooks closing due to Coronavirus.
However, total handle dropped 66.5 per cent month on month to $19.6million.
Despite land-based sportsooks being closed due to Covid-19, operators have continued to run online and mobile sportsbooks.
During the month, online betting contributed $1.2 million to the revenue total, down 9.4 per cent compared to February. This came from handle of $13.3million, down 64.8 per cent. Retail betting made a loss of $69,933.
While this marked second consecutive month in which the retail sector posted a loss, it was an improvement on the US$614,574 loss posted in February.
