GAN targets US sports betting ops
The company said that it intends to launch its operations during the second half of 2018.
US.- After the US Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting, multiple companies have expressed their intentions to operate in the country. GAN has discussed once again its desire to launch online sports betting services in New Jersey and Pennsylvania during the second half of the year.
While New Jersey and Pennsylvania are still waiting for sports betting to be legalised, they are eligible to come up with regulations to wager on sports. There have been reports in which it was questioned if New Jersey casinos would be able to offer online sports betting because of their ownership or close relation with sports teams.
Nevertheless, the company said that it has studied the issue with its clients and that it doesn’t expect a significant impact on its plans to launch sports betting in those states. Dermot Smurfit, chief executive of GAN, said: “Online sports betting ‘go-live’ preparations are well advanced and we remain confident in launching as soon as reasonably possible in H2.”
