The Dutch gaming regulator the KSA has fined Nederlandse Loterij’s Lotto for breaching restrictions aimed at protecting minors.

The Netherlands.- The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has issued a €10,000 penalty to Nederlandse Loterij’s (NLO) Lotto subsidiary for breaching advertising codes of conduct.

The fine relates to the placing of an advert for Lotto’s EuroJackpot game on girlscene.nl, a website that targets minors. Lotto failed to answer a cease and desist action sent by the KSA, resulting in the regulator issuing the penalty.

The KSA said: “The KSA continues to monitor whether games of chance providers target vulnerable groups, such as minors, with their advertisements. If this is the case, the KSA can take enforcement action.

“Providers are always responsible for all their advertisements, even if they have their advertisements taken care of via third parties such as advertising agencies.”

Last month, KSA issued a warning to the state lottery, Staatsloterij, and ordered it to remove adverts that showed professional football players. It also took action to remove a “fake” Facebook account that managed illegal lottery games.

Meanwhile, the regulator has published its final rules on the involuntary exclusion of players from gambling through CRUKS, the Netherlands’ self-exclusion register that comes into force with the opening of the country’s licensed online gambling market this year.
