Dutch gaming associations back safer gambling slogan
The three main Dutch gaming associations have agreed to support one of five slogans to promote safer gambling on the Netherlands’ new regulated market.
The Netherlands.- The Netherlands Online Gaming Association (NOGA), VAN Kansspelen and VNLOK, the three main Dutch gaming industry associations, have given their support to a proposed slogan to encourage safer gambling. The development of the slogan comes after the launch of regulated online gambling in the Netherlands on October 2.
Dutch MP Mei Li Vos had called for the implementation of an “unambiguous and clear slogan” to warn consumers of the risk of gambling addiction and related harm. The Netherlands’ Ministry of Justice and Safety has since been working with the Trimbos Institute, which has developed five possible new slogans to replace the current phrase “Play consciously”.
Out of the five options put forward, NOGA, VAN Kansspelen and VNLOK have supported the adoption of the slogan ‘Avoid Regrets, Stop in Time 18+’.
They said they believed it to be “the most appealing, appropriate and effective” of the five options.
NOGA managing director Peter-Paul de Goeij said: “NOGA, VAN Kansspelen and VNLOK call on the Minister for Legal Protection to make a quick decision on the new and more effective slogan and to choose “Avoid Regrets, Stop in Time 18+” for sectors in which our associations are active.
“Both consumers and providers benefit from clarity in the short term. The sector is capable of fully implementing this slogan in the short term. The Trimbos Institute will soon present the report with its findings. NOGA, VAN Kansspelen and VNLOK look forward with confidence to the conclusions and considerations.”
This slogan chosen must be made clearly visible on all advertisements for gambling products.
