Coyote Valley Casino could be relocated

The Indian tribe behind the casino said that is still in talks to relocate the California facility to another reservation.

US.- The Coyote Valley Band Of Pomo Indians revealed that the tribe is in talks with Mendocino County authorities to relocate the Coyote Valley Casino to a different location in a 70-acre Indian reservation.

As the Ukiah Daily Journal revealed, Tribal Chairman Michael Hunter said that they’re trying to bold single-family units in the current location of the casino, and relocate the latter into a new building on an open field inside reservation land. If they approve the relocation, 25 more games would be added into the casino portfolio. The official is supposed to seek funding through grant programs in order to make it happen. Moreover, the tribe is trying to build a hotel, but they still haven’t figured out how it could fit the current plan.

The tribe also said that the hotel would be owned by another party, therefore they would not need to pay extra taxes. “The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act expressly forbids states and their political subdivisions from imposing taxes on an Indian tribe, except as necessary to defray the costs of regulating gaming activities,” detailed a letter to the county.
