Congress member says Goa is the fourth largest casino destination globally
Goa Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar condemns the growth of the number of casinos in the state.
India.- Complaining at the growth in the number of casinos in the state, Goa Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar said that Goa was the fourth largest casino destination in the world after Las Vegas, Macao and Singapore.
The MLA urged the government to control the casino industry in the state before the casino lobby began to control the state government. He also highlighted that the state government was losing revenue from the casino industry due to lack of a proper monitoring system of entry and the non implementation of the gaming commissioner.
In addition, Madkaikar asked chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar to visit international casinos to understand their repercussions on a state’s society whilst adding that he had personally visited casinos in Las Vegas, Macao and Singapore.
“There is a need to bring control in casinos. If this continues, Goa will go out of the hands of the government and will be controlled by casino lobbies,” said Madkaikar. “Tomorrow, the casinos will control Goa. Casinos will decide who the CM is, who the minister is.”
