Cleveland casino posts negative record revenue

Jack Cleveland Casino was the only gaming venue in Ohio to show a year-on-year revenue decline during April.

US.- Nearly every casino and racino in Ohio saw a revenue increase during April, except for Jack Cleveland Casino. The venue saw its lowest revenue for the month in its history and was the only one to underperform in comparison to the same period in 2017.

The casino posted revenue of US$16.7 million, almost a million lower than last year’s US$17.5 million. The results are even more surprising when taking into consideration the opening of the electronic table games area, Synergy, which was inaugurated during late March as part of a strategy to target millennials.

Still, Mark Tricano, senior vice president of Northeast Ohio Operations for parent company Jack Entertainment, explained the company remains focused on “the long-term investment of its property” and said: “The addition of Synergy Table Games builds on this commitment by adding a revolutionary arena-style adventure that has been a hit with Clevelanders looking for a fun and entertaining nightlife experience.”

Statewide casino and racino revenue in April reached US$71.8 million and US$89.7 million respectively. According to the Ohio Lottery Commission, Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park led all venues with US$22.8 million in revenue last month.
