Mainland China lottery sales up in March
The segment posted a 2% increase in sales during the first quarter, despite a decrease in March.
China.- The Ministry of Finance of China released on Tuesday the latest financial results from lottery operations in the country. The information reveals that sales of official lottery products in the territory stood at US$15.8 billion.
The billionaire figure represents a 2.1% increase when compared to the same period in 2018, according to official data. However, sales of welfare lottery tickets rose to €6.4 billion in the first three months of the year, which is a 6.1% fall when compared to the same period in 2018.
Furthermore, sports lottery sales increased by 10.3% year-on-year to €7.5 billion. The data also revealed that during the first quarter of the year, sales increased in 14 of 31 provinces and municipalities authorised across China.
Guangdong continues to lead the mainland lottery market, with lottery ticket sales down 4.3% from 2018 to €1.2 billion.
In March, lottery tickets sales decreased by 13% year-on-year to €4.6 billion. Moreover, welfare lottery sales declined 16.4% to €2.1 billion. Sports lottery sales in March totalled €2.4 billion, a 9.7% fall.
