Michael Ahearne, SkyCity’s CEO, has announced that a Covid-19 vaccination certificate will be required for entry to all SkyCity venues in New Zealand.

New Zealand.- SkyCity Entertainment Group has taken the decision to only allow vaccinated customers to enter its casinos. It will require Covid-19 vaccination certificates for entry to all SkyCity venues in New Zealand.

According to Michael Ahearne, SkyCity’s CEO, the casino operator has in place the highest available levels of protection against Covid-19 and is meeting its legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 but that research had confirmed “Covid-19 vaccines will provide the best protection for our staff and customers.”

He added: “SkyCity expects the CVC requirement will cover all employees (around 2,900), customers, contractors and visitors at our New Zealand sites to protect them from the harmful effects of Covid-19.”

Over the last six months, the company has encouraged its employees to get vaccinated by providing paid time off, petrol vouchers for travel and vaccination events for staff.

The company has been deeply impacted by the Covid-19 Delta outbreak that led to the temporary closure of its venue in Hamilton and its casino in Queenstown.
