Sands China ups donations in fight against Coronavirus
Casino operator Sands China donates a further €188,900 to relief efforts.
Macau.- Casino operator Sands China Ltd has announced another donation of MOP 1.65 million (€188,900) to 33 elderly centers and rehabilitation clinics helping to fight the Coronavirus outbreak.
The gambling operator has already donated hundreds of thousands of face masks and millions of dollars to relief efforts.
The donation will support other measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Each of the 33 beneficiaries will receive MOP 50,000 (€5,700) that will be used for cleaning and sanitizing the centers and for purchasing hygiene products for additional preventive measures.
“As Macao works to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Sands China is pleased to be able to use our coronavirus relief fund to assist Macao’s elderly homes and rehabilitation centers in keeping their residents and service users safe and healthy,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China Ltd.
“We are grateful to the Social Welfare Bureau for their efficient coordination, assistance, and support, and we hope all in Macao will continue working together to keep the city safe during this trying time, under the guidance of the government’s virus prevention efforts”, he added.
This action is part of a bigger donation that began a few weeks ago when Sands China donated MOP25 million (€2.8 million) to relief efforts.
The company explained that the money donated to Chinese and Macau authorities is “to help address the current public health challenges caused by the outbreak of the new coronavirus”.
