Malaysia: 84 IT workers arrested for allegedly building online gambling platforms

Malaysia.- Police in Malaysia have arrested 84 IT professionals allegedly hired to build online gambling platforms for illegal overseas operators. The arrests were made in a a raid at a unit in One City in Jalan USJ 25/1. Police say the workers were paid between RM5,000 and RM20,000 per month.
The syndicate’s operations allegedly extended to Thailand, Brazil, China and Vietnam. Selangor police chief comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan told The Star that a call centre associated with the syndicate had been operational since the previous year.
