Macau: just two hotels being used as quarantine venues
Sheraton Grand Macao has been removed from the list of properties being used as quarantine venues in the city.
Macau.- Ten hotels have now been removed from the list of properties being used as quarantine venues in Macau, with just two currently being used to house foreign visitors entering the SAR.
The properties still in use are the Pousada Marina Infante and Golden Crown China Hotel after the Sheraton Grand Macao was returned to its owners to be re-opened to the public.
Last Monday, a total of 215 people were still undergoing a 14-day medical quarantine in the Sheraton Hotel, where around 500 rooms were being used.
According to Inside Asian Gaming, a total of 163 people now remain in the two quarantine hotels, which have 598 rooms between them.
“Countries all over the world, especially nearby areas, have encouraged people to stay home,” officials from the Macao Government Tourism Office, said.
“We can see border and transportation restrictions in place around the world, so passenger flows and visitation have plunged sharply.
“We have evaluated that the two hotels are enough for us at this moment. Many hotels have told us they are willing to be utilised again if the government is in need,” the Tourism Office added.
