Macau GGR hits US$563m for first nine days of May

According to analysts, Macau’s casinos’ gross gaming revenue for the first nine days of May was up 79 per cent month-on-month.

Macau.- Sanford C. Bernstein has reported Macau’s GGR for the first nine days of May, including the Labour Day break, reached an average daily rate of MOP500m (US$75m).

Meanwhile, JP Morgan analysts suggest that GGR during the Labour Day break reached nearly MOP630m a day and could have reached over 70 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.

Some165,500 tourists visited Macau during the Labour Day break between May 1 and May 5, with a record of 44,000 arrivals on the first day.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) reported an average occupancy rate of 83.2 per cent for hotels and guest houses.

Now analysts expect Macau’s GGR for the month to come in at over MOP10bn, and to reach between MOP11bn and MOP12bn in July and August.
