Kangwon Land to keep reduced operating hours until January 16

Kangwon Land Inc has decided to continue operating at reduced hours until at least January 16 to avoid a rise in Covid-19 cases.

South Korea.- The South Korean casino Kangwon Land has told GGRAsia that its gaming venue will continue operating at reduced hours from 10am to 10pm every day until January 16.

Kangwon Land introduced the restricted hours on December 18, 2021, amid a new rise in Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.

The measure was supposed to be in place until January 2 but the casino operator decided to extend the restriction while authorities did the same with the social distancing rules imposed last month.

Only people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed to enter. People will need to show a vaccine pass as proof.

Kangwon Land launches ban mechanism for problem gamblers

Kangwon Land has been providing a 10-day emergency ban mechanism for problem gamblers from January 1.

Family members will be able to request the ban by email or fax both for foreign players or Korean citizens. A 10-day entry restriction will be activated “immediately” when a request is made.

To activate a longer ban, family members must submit certain supporting documents or visit in person during the temporary ban to explain the need for a longer-term exclusion.

Kangwon Land is reported to have banned 55 problem gamblers between January 1 to July 31 last year.
