Kangwon Land to launch ban mechanism for problem gamblers
Kangwon Land will launch a ban mechanism for problem gamblers from January 1 in order to help tackle gambling harm.
South Korea.- The South Korean casino Kangwon Land will provide a 10-day emergency ban mechanism for problem gamblers from January 1. Family members will be able to request the ban by email or fax both for foreign players or Korean citizens. A 10-day entry restriction will be activated “immediately” be activated when a request is made.
To activate a longer ban, family members must submit certain supporting documents or visit in person during the temporary ban to explain the need for a longer-term exclusion. Kangwon Land is reported to have banned 55 problem gamblers between January 1 to July 31 this year.
The casino operator is operating at reduced hours, from 10am to 10pm every day, from December 18 to January 2 under new Covid-19 countermeasures imposed by the government due to an increase in cases and fears surrounding the Omicron variant.
Only people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 may enter the casino. JP Morgan has recently said that Paradise Co‘s recovery may take longer, sometime towards the end of Fiscal Year 2023 as long as the country continues easing travel restrictions.
