IR contender gives US$200,000 to Nagasaki NGO

The money will go to relief efforts aimed at alleviating the effects of the recent torrential rains and floods in the area.

Japan.- Oshidori International Holdings, one of the main contenders to participate in Nagasaki’s integrated resort (IR) bid, has made a substantial donation to a local NGO to help the recuperation of the area after recent floods.

Oshidori has donated US$200,000 to Akai Hane – Nagasaki Community Chest Association & Social Welfare Corporation for the relief efforts in the Nagasaki prefecture, GGRAsia.

The donation was made through Kyushu Oshidori Children’s Foundation, a non-profit body established by Oshidori International in 2019.

The Hong Kong-based company is one of the main contenders to become the city’s private partner in a bid for one of the three IR licences to be granted in Japan next year. Current Corp and a Japanese unit of Casinos Austria International are believed to be the other main contenders, although it has been speculated that American casino giant, Las Vegas Sands could also re-enter the race.

The IR development would be located at Sasebo city, one of the areas impacted by the recent torrential rains and floods.

The selection process to choose a private partner for Nagasaki’s IR bid is to begin at the end of this month.
