Genting Malaysia sees visits recover by half
Both mass-market and VIP have seen a mild recovery since Malaysian casinos began to reopen on June 15.
Malaysia.- Genting Malaysia has seen visit numbers recover to half pre-quarantine levels since it reopened its casinos on June 15,
Visitor numbers reached half pre-quarantine numbers in the first two weeks of July, the opertor said.
Both mass-market and VIP business saw recovery although entry to its thee casinos is only currently allowed to Genting Rewards members. Analysts at CGS-CIMB say rewards members account for the majority of the casinos’ visits during usual conditions.
The analyts noted that 80 per cent of Genting Malaysia’s visitors are local, which is why the operator has been able to achieve a relatively rapid recovery.
Resorts World Genting has more than doubled its number of available rooms from an initial 2,000 to 5,000 in recent weeks. Genting’s SkyCasino and Genting Grand casinos are also open and operating at about 50 percent of normal capacity.
