UKGC publishes its 2019 business plan

The gambling commission from the UK outlined its focus and priorities for 2018-2019.

UK.- The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) published its business plan for 2018-2019 this week, in which it sets out how the regulator will protect the interests of consumers and raise standards in the gambling market, among other things, over the next year.

The plan, which also outlines how the regulator will optimise returns to good causes from lotteries and improve the way it regulates, is the first of three to be published over the lifespan of the UKGC’s three-year strategy.

The Commission will publish industry to designing-in protections and control measures right from the start of product development and accelerate the progress that operators are already making on consumer interventions. It also sets a commitment to better understanding the public health impact of problem gambling.

William Moyes, Chair of the Gambling Commission, said: “Our ambitious plans for the next 12 months and beyond are designed to enable us to continue to respond to emerging risks and issues in a way that balances consumer choice and enjoyment with the risks associated with gambling, and the impact on wider society.”

Moyes added that their strategy and plans will deliver real change for consumers, the gambling industry and for the Commission as the regulator. He also said that they’re aiming to make gambling fairer and safer and to raise standards across the industry.
