Revenue up 4.5 pct in Pennsylvania in 2019

The Pennsylvania regulator PGCB has reported that statewide revenue for gaming and DFS contests totalled over US$3.4 billion in 2019.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has released the total gaming and fantasy contests revenue generated in the state in 2019. The report establishes that there has been a 4.47% increase in revenues generated in Pennsylvania during last year’s operations.

Total revenue in 2019 in Pennsylvania was US$3.4 billion, approximately US$150 million more than what Pennsylvanian facilities had registered in 2018 when the number was US$3.2 million.

Parx Casino was the facility that achieved the highest total revenue in 2019 with US$639.4 million, representing a 6.09% increase over 2018. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated US$522.1 million, although the number is relatively flat when compared to the previous period.

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Rivers Casino Philadelphia totalled US$392 million and US$339 million respectively. Those figures show increases of 9.3% and 11.9% over 2018.

Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was US$1.4 billion during 2019 compared to US$1.3 billion in 2018.

Gross revenue from slot machines at the 12 casinos was US$2.3 bllion, a 0.29% decrease in revenue when compared to the figure generated in calendar year 2018.

Table games revenue reached an all-time high during calendar year 2019 totalling US$903 million. It was the first year in which table games revenue topped US$900 million and was an increase of 2.8% over calendar year 2018 when revenue was US$878.7 million.

Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of US$33.5 million and tax revenue of US$13.3 million during calendar year 2019.

Calendar year 2019 represented the first full year of sports wagering in Pennsylvania. The handle from both retail and online outlets totalled US$1.4 billion and resulted in revenue of US$84.1 million.  Taxes derived from sports wagering in 2019 was US$30.2 million.

At the close of the year, there were 20 establishments offering VGT gaming and operating a total of 100 machines. In 2019, revenue from VGT gaming was US$2.3 million producing tax revenue of US$1.2 million.

DFS revenue was US$25.8 million, an increase of 70% over calendar year 2018 when revenue was US$15.3 million.
