Pennsylvanians have highest igaming spend in the US, study says
According to the research Pennsylvanian gamblers spend four times as much on igaming as those in New Jersey.
US.- Pennsylvanians spend the most on gambling in the US, with an average annual igaming spend of $6,766.15. That’s four times the average spend in New Jersey. The second-highest spending state is Michigan market at $2,024.25 per player each year.
The figures come from a study produced by the website VegasSlotsOnline website. However, the figures are heavily skewed by the fact that they were calculated over different time periods, with the average spend for each state calculated using total spending since the date that gaming was legalised in each state.
The average annual amount was generated by dividing handle by the number of years of online casino wagering in each state.
As such, the more recently opened markets of Pennsylvania and Michigan show a higher average spend because the average is calculated over fewer years in a period in which online gaming was more strongly established as a product.
Despite being allowed since 2013, the New Jersey online casino vertical initially failed to generate much interest. As a result, it ranked third for spending because of low handle figures in the initial years, with an average igaming spend of $1,507.13 per year over its history.
