Osaka pushes for casino resort license

Local officials aim to win one of the casino licenses to be issued by the Japanese government and want Osaka to host the 2025 World Expo.

Japan.- As the casino industry gets closer to Japan, cities’ governments are fighting to get their own license to build an integrated resort. Osaka officials are among the interested jurisdictions in the developing sector and are set to double their efforts in order to win one, as well as getting to host the 2025 World Expo.

Osaka’s integrated resort would be built on the Yumeshima artificial island, as casinonewsdaily.com reported. The development, in case the city wins the license, is set to be built before 2025, when Osaka could host the World Expo as its said to be the officials’ desire. In order to boost their efforts, a Diet members coalition was formed to advocate for the city and work in promotion both locally and internationally.

Whether Osaka achieves its goals or not will be known somewhere around next year, as preferred locations for casinos in the country won’t be announced before late 2017 and the host of the 2025 World Expo will be revealed late in 2018.

As the Japanese government wraps up the final details of the bill that would allow integrated resorts to develop integrated resorts in the country, operators and cities’ governments are already working to be ready once the legislation is finally approved.
