Operators remain interested in Hellinikon casino
Three out of four companies that previously voiced their interest are still looking to operate a Hellinikon casino project.
Greece.- The Greek government continues to struggle with its Hellinikon casino project. However, three out of the four companies that were interested in it at first, remain in play today.
Caesars Entertainment, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) and Hard Rock, and Malaysia’s Genting were pushing for the project. Even as it seems the first one is soon to withdraw from the project, the other three remain interested in the Hellinikon casino.
All three of them have completed the submission of their comments both on the casino license concession terms and on the terms for leasing the property. It would be from the main concessionaire of Elliniko, Hellenikon Global and its owner Lamda Development.
Continous delays
The €7.1 billion project has been delayed for the last 12 years and was pushed back yet again.
The authorities announced they were looking for bids for an operator, but have pushed back the deadline yet again. The original one had been set at April 22 but was moved to May 31, 2019. According to local media, issues pertaining to zoning caused the new delay.
Ceasars Entertainment, Mohegan Gaming, Hard Rock and Genting have shown interest in the Hellinikon casino project. The winner will be awarded a 30-year licence.
“The International Tender will be conducted on the basis of the most economically advantageous offer based on the best price-quality ratio. Interested Parties will be able to receive information about the Tender by accessing the Virtual Data Room (VDR), which contains the Concession Agreement Documents in digital form and other supporting information,” detailed the statement from the commission when the tender was launched.
