Online casino market in Italy registers 19.8 pct growth
March 2019 was a successful month for the online casino market in Italy, as was the first quarter.
Italy.- Figures shared by Italian gaming news agency AGIMEG showed that the local online casino market saw spending of €72.6 million during March 2019, which represents a 19.8% increase when compared to the previous year.
The numbers for the first quarter of the year were also positive, as they were 17.6% up from the same period in 2018 to €206 million. PokerStars once again led the market and took a 11.1% share of the market. Sisal and Lottomatica followed the company with a 7.94% and 7.5% respectively and held the second and third largest share.
Furthermore, 888, Eurobet and Snaitech posted similar results. 888 recorded a 6.67% of the market share, while Eurobet and Snaitech both took 6.45% of the share in March.
The segment recovers from February
In February, online casinos posted a solid month. They reported €61.4 million in revenue, 12% up year-on-year but down from January’s €72 million. Online poker wasn’t so lucky as total revenue only totalled €12.2 million, while tournament revenue dropped 4.3% to €7.2 million.
