MGM Cotai to open junket rooms in September
The new casino resort developed by MGM China is set to open new VIP gambling rooms next month.
Macau.- MGM China Holdings chief executive officer Grant Bowie revealed that the MGM Cotai is set to begin opening VIP gambling rooms with external junket partners next month. The company expects to have five junket operators to have gaming business running at the Cotai property no later than early 2019.
Mr Bowie was consulted about the timetable for the junket operators timetable and said: “In total we have facilities for five operators. We’re looking for two in September and probably another two in October and a fifth will open early next year.”
In addition, the official announced the rooms’ construction is being completed and said: “Now what we are working through is all the licensing process with the government. We’re very happy that the [junket room] construction is nearly completed, and the licensing process is being finalised.”
According to investment analysts, the initial junkets will be provided by Suncity Group, Guangdong Group, Tak Chun Group, David Group and Meg-Star International. However, the number of gaming tables to be destined for the junket operation has not yet been revealed.
Besides the VIP rooms at the US$3.5 billion MGM Cotai, a facility called President’s Club will also be launched. The development was described by the firm as “an ultimate exclusive gaming area” for its premium-mass customers.
