Maryland casinos hit new revenue record
According to the Maryland Lottery, casinos have generated a new record for the second time in three months.
US.- Maryland casinos set a new monthly revenue record in May. According to the Maryland Lottery, the six state casinos generated $172.4m last month. That beats the previous single-month of $169.2m set in March.
Casinos contributed $73.4m to the state in May. That’s an increase of $9.7m compared to the $63.7m contributed in May 2019. Maryland’s casinos were closed from March 16 to June 19 last year due to the pandemic.
Contributions to the Education Trust Fund in May reached $53.3m. That’s an increase of $5.5m compared to May 2019.
Casino revenues also support the communities where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
