Macau GGR, better than expected

Despite original projections, analysts say Macau’s GGR is on the way to reach a 17-19 per cent growth.

Macau.- Gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau is an ever-changing figure but it tends to be on the up. March won’t be the exception, as analysts have projected it is on the way to reach a 17-19 per cent growth, despite lower projections from a couple of weeks back.

With four days to go in March, GGR is set to reach nearly €2.46 billion, representing an increase of almost 20 per cent, analysts say. The projection is way higher than that revealed earlier this month by brokerage Sanford Bernstein, which put March’s GGR at a nine to twelve per cent growth with a lower performance by Macau casinos.

Last week, ADR reached €91.6 million and increased around 30 per cent year-on-year. According to analysts, this reflects increased foot traffic as a result of junket organized spring parties. That’s why they are suggesting that the original projections are set to be exceeded, as GGR may actually be closer to 20 per cent up in comparison to 2017 instead of only around 10 per cent.
