Macau could allow a new casino

The new Asian casino would be located at The 13 Hotel on the Cotai-Coloane border.

Macau.- The 13 Holdings Ltd, a Hong Kong company that operates touristic venues in the continent, has asked the government of Macau for a casino licence to install a gaming salon in its local The 13 Hotel on the Cotai-Coloane border. The hotel is currently operating after Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s permission.

Furthermore, the MGTO announced that it has received an inspection request for the newly-developed The 13 Hotel. “The inspection will be carried out within 20 days of receiving the request. If the hotel, food and beverage and other facilities inside the establishment pass the inspection, the licences will be issued as soon as possible,” the MGTO told local newspaper GGRAsia.

Not only has the project had financial setbacks, but it also saw founder Stephen Hung walk away earlier this year, resigning all his positions and selling his related holdings. This added up to uncertainty around the casino licence being awarded by Macau authorities.

The casino is expected to house 66 gaming tables with minimum bets set at a comparatively high level and around 50 high-limit slot machines. However, it’s yet to be seen if the development will get what it needs to finally be completed and open.
