The state registered a retail sports betting handle of $49.3m in January.

US.- Louisiana’s retail sportsbooks took $49.3m in wagers in January, the same month the state launched its legal online sports betting market. The figure is the highest monthly total since Louisiana launched legal retail wagering on October 6, up 24.8 per cent from $39.5m in December and up 78.6 per cent from November´s $27.6m.

Revenue from retail sports betting in January was $5.3m, up 29.3 per cent up from $4.1m in December and down 7 per cent from $5.7m in November. Football betting generated $1.5m and basketball $313,941. Tax from retail sports betting amounted to $533,289.

In its opening weekend, Louisiana’s mobile sports betting market registered more than 3.4m geolocation transactions, according to GeoComply. The firm monitored Louisiana´s betting activity from its launch on January 28 until January 30.
